Frequently asked questions

Do my plans need to be sealed by a licensed structural engineer?

If your project is in Raleigh or any other major city and you have structural components to build or update within your project, yes, you will need you plans to be sealed by a structural engineer.

There are many towns/cities within North Carolina that do not require this. Although, we always recommend getting your plans sealed by a licensed architect or engineer for any new builds or structural updates to your project, we advise you contact your local permits and planning office to make sure you understand what will be required to pull permits based on your location. As an add-on, we can help with determining if this is a need for you if you are unsure.

Non-structural plans are not required to be sealed by a structural engineer.

How long does it take to get my plans back?

Typical turnaround time is 10 business days. We offer expedited services for a fee.

Do you engineer seal pans? How does that work?

EZ Draft is not a licensed structural engineering or architecture firm. We partner with local engineers and architects to review and seal plans for a fee. We are happy to provide a fluid service include Engineering service for your plans, if you would prefer it to all be handled in house. We do not charge more for this but instead will inform you of the Engineers fees for this service. You will find that in NC, Engineer fees are always separate from Archtecture design fees, even if within the same firm. In the same way that our fees for Drawing your CAD plans will be separate also. We are confident that that our fees are competitive and potentially more affordable than most other firms, hence our motto!
